The human figure is central in the work of Johan Tahon. He experiments with all kinds of materials, but favours plaster, ceramics and bronze. Tahon's search for new forms is inspired by traditional sculpture and by elements from different cultures. He creates intuitively and expresses the searching and the vulnerability of man.
Tahon's long figures deviate from the standard human anatomy. They are not realistic, but are neither abstract. This dualism is a fixed element in his work and invokes existential questions about the meaning of the sculpture Tahon as well as the spectator is looking for.
The exhibition in the Bank is a search for meaning in a place where dreams meet with reality. Everything flows, everything is possible...
